Waiting For Stanley live draft a success

Thanks to all those who participated in the Live Draft today. It was a great time. I am liking my team. The rest of you had better re-consider your picks!
Remember, the winner gets $100 to their charity of choice.
I will post the leaderboard from the pool on occasion.

Waiting For Stanley Hockey Pool

D-lee at Red and Black Hockey has set up a Yahoo Sports Fantasy hockey pool, which I joined, and now I've set one up as well.
It can be found here.

HOW TO JOIN

Go to Yahoo Sports Fantasy Hockey home....(you need a Yahoo account first)
-click "Sign Up Now"
-Then click "Join League"
-then click "Join Custom"
-you will enter a screen that asks for the League ID and password which I have provided below:

League ID: 14033
Password: 2008

Shazam.

-I have 15 spots available, so the draft should get into over 300 players deep. That's more time to get drunk, right?

- It is a points pool, not a rotisserie or head-to-head pool format. I'm keeping this simple.

- Speaking of simple: 1 point for a goal, 1 point for an assist for skaters. Goalies get 2 points for a win and 1 for a shutout. That should put someone like Nabokov in the 100 point range.

-No trading amongst eachother because I don't want the hassle of dealing with bunk trade offers. There will be no maximum player drops. And no waiver rule either. Like I said, I'm keeping this shit simple.

What should the winner get..... bragging rights? How about $100 to the winner's charity of choice? That's what it will be.

The live draft will take place on Sunday September 28 at 3:00 pm Pacific Time.
Damn, I love live drafts! Just talking about it gets me excited that hockey is about to begin again!

The Common Fan Pool site suffers setback

It has been a treat to be a part of the free pool site in the past couple years, but unfortunately the NHLPA has come down on the administrator. To quote the site:

"The use of player's names, images and other identifying characteristics in any manner that is commercially exploited requires a license. Using player's names in a fantasy pool is such an instance. Our standard fantasy licensing contract will require both a minimum guarantee and a royalty (the royalty being a percentage of advertising revenue brought in by the fantasy site as well as a set fee per unique user). Royalties are credited against the minimum guarantee; if you earn over the minimum guarantee you pay those royalties to the NHLPA, if you earn under the minimum guarantee you would just be liable for the minimum guarantee."

- Adam Larry, NHLPA.
The site is down temporarily, but the admin says it will be up again on September 29th. Odds are the pool won't be free this time, but we'll see what this guy is up to, bless his heart.

Waiting For Stanley Hockey Pools

Just a heads up, I will be running Common Fan and Yahoo Pools this season once again with prizes to be named soon.

The Yahoo Pool will take some preparation as it will be a live draft (gad I love live drafts) So let me know here or email me at zanstorm99@yahoo.ca if you are interested in joining.

I just can't believe that some people are drafting at Yahoo already!

The Pool Master

After a complete sucky performance in my regular season pools, I have redeemed myself in the playoffs.
Unfortunately, SavageNation got much needed points from Datsyuk and Lidstrom, 2 players I did not have, and stomped a mudhole in my ass in the Waiting For Stanley Playoff pool.
Good times. I'm looking forward to pooling again in a few months!

Waiting For Stanley Pool Standings

The Waiting For Stanley Pool has been a close race so far. SirRated had the lead for most of Round 1 but lost 7 players after the initial round. 1972 Summit Series is actually Joe Pelletier. I need the Devils to be eliminated in order to catch that guy.
I got 3 words for you: BANK ON IT!!
Remember, I am paying the winner of this pool $50. If you are reading this and are a part of the pool and actually have a chance at winning it, you will have to send me your address so I can send you a cheque!
Odds are, you won't beat me anyways, and I'll spend my own $50 on a full frontal massage. :)

Waiting For Stanley Playoff Pool

Feel free to join my Waiting For Stanley Playoff Hockey Pool. I will send the winner a $50 dollar cheque! That prize isn't nearly as creative as Mike Halford's prize at the Orland Kurtenblog Playoff Pool (a flat of Molson Canadian!) But hey, a cheque is easier, and everyone likes money! And yes, I did join Mike's pool! I'm thirsty...

All you have to do is sign in or register at The Common Fan hockey pool page, which is quick and easy, and then join my (or anyone else's) pools.

Rules:

-Pick 20 forwards or defencemen
-Players get points for goals, assists, shorthanded goals, and game-winning goals.
-You can adjust your roster up until the first playoff game starts. After that, you better start praying.
-Don't do anything stupid like pick Hurricanes or Oilers.
-Win! Make me look like I don't know hockey, and take $50 of my hard-earned money!
-If I win, you all pay me $50! (I'm kidding)
