NHL 08 Released Today in US and Canada

Well, hopefully Canada as well. I am going to suck it up and buy a Playstation 3 through Amazon on Thursday hopefully as Amazon's price is still over $150 cheaper than what my hometown sells it for. And I'll have NHL 08 in my hands when the PS3 comes in. Can't wait. I am a mega fan of the EA Sports versions over the 2k series and am getting a PS3 because it will also play my old Playstation games. Yup, I am a PS guy for life I guess.
One thing about these NHL games is the fans in the stands are absolute idiots. They don't visually react properly when a goal is scored, etc. Judging by the pics I've seen, that hasn't changed even on the 360 or PS3 versions. Too bad. I am hoping that the Stanley Cup celebrations are improved over the last few years as well. Oh yeah, and that Craig Simpson is taken out of the play-by-play. God he sucks.
If you buy it and play it, let me know what you think of it, as I will be waiting about 2 weeks before I get to try it out. Ah, but Waiting is a part of this site isn't it?

Ohhhhh yeah! Is the release today already?

I get mine for PC. I don't have PS3 unfortunately, though now that it's $150 cheaper than when it first came out, I might go out and get one.

You got a good joystick for your computer?

The best thing about the PS3 is that Grand Theft Auto comes out next spring I believe. Hoohaw!

Not to be fanboy-ish, but xbox360s are cheaper than ps3 (unless you really want HD DVD stuff) and have way more other games for when you get tired. PS3 has "folding@home" and that's about it..

Checkout dell.ca, they usually have some decent prices on the 360 bundles, free shipping too..

James: Yeah yeah yeah. And with XBox you can download your own tunes on it for when you are playing.....

I have money...I'll stick with the Almighty PS!!! The PS3 games are making their way into the market at an increased rate now. And the sport games (the ones I buy) look better on PS if you ask me!!

I dunno man, the ps3 is a bit of a fiasco.. Mind you, the 360's reliability has been ridiculous..

If that's pretty much all you'll ever play than ps3 is a safe bet..

My evolution in gaming consoles is this: Commodore 64, Atari, Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Playstation, Playstation 2.

I wonder what the new Tomb Raider will look like on these new consoles??? :)

I think I know the answer to this already, but should I go NHL 08 this year or the NHL 2K8 (from 2K sports)? (I have an xbox 360)

For my PS2 I always went EA Sports but when I got the 360 last Christmas, I went with 2K sports for the Xbox simply because I heard good reviews and because I felt odd having NHL 07 on two different platforms (I already bought NHL 07 for my Playstation back in September).

Bottom line is that I thought both were good but I'd rather gravitate towards the more popular game in case any online games with someone present themselves in the future.

doobie: I had 2k7 and NHL 07 for my PS2. I only played the NHL07 after a while. I like 2k7's mini games better. But the overall presentation of the EA Sports NHL frnachise is so much better. Plus the stick control on NHL 08 is supposed to be something to behold. We'll see!

Vakfan: I get my kicks above the waistline, sunshine!

I never really got why he said that.

How old are you guys?? Am I the only one who thinks that grown men discussing video games is funny. (no ill will intended guys; I just don't get it).

Then again I never played them as a kid either - never got into them - was always doing outdoor stuff (I am from Labrador) or playing sports.

Maybe if I played as a kid I would get your excitement but for now it remains a mystery to me.

When I was a kid we did both. We'd play pond hockey at my place until dark and then play Blades of Steel until 3 in the morning at my neighbor's house.

Age has only minorly slowed my love for video games. It's an escape for me. Something to distract my mind from regular life. One day I'll have kids I'll play video games with them too.
I'm going to be a video game-playing metal head grandpa!

Even God likes video games. So it's all good.

Bibleman??? Oh my gad. I just puked. I guess that's a safe alternative to GTA. Maybe they should have Bibleman zap sinners with lightning bolts from his ass, and open the earth up so the unfaithful fall into the abyss.
I'd buy that.
