Poor Cammalleri

You can't blame Mike Cammalleri for being disappointed about the money he got through arbitration: 2 years and $6.7 million. He will make $3.1 million next season and $3.6 million in 2008-09. Cammalleri had 34 goals and 80 points last season.
Comparisons to piss him off royally:

Dustin Penner getting a 5-year $21.5 million deal from Edmonton. Penner had 25 goals and 45 points. Of course, this is a different circumstance.

Todd Bertuzzi signed a 2-year deal with the Ducks at $4 million per season. Bert has a bad back and may never score 80 points again in his career.

Patrice Bergeron has never scored more than never scored more than 31 goals and 73 points but is signed multi-year at $4.75 million per season.

Eric Cole has never scored more than 30 goals and 61 points in his career and he is making $4 million per season.

Nathan Horton has never scored more than 31 goals and 62 points and is making $4 million per season.

The list goes on and on.

But then there are the players who are in the same financial boat as Cammalleri is who put out the same amount of offence:

-Ray Whitney
-Milan Hejduk
-Shawn Horcoff
-Steve Sullivan

Players wh0 do NOT deserve Cammalleri's dollar value:
-Fredrik Modin

The lists go on and on. I am suprised that Cammalleri did not get more. But which players and prerequisites were they using to decide Cammalleri's numerical fate?

For now, Cammalleri will have to keep improving his play and wait until he becomes an unrestricted free agent. He will earn so much more when there is a bidding war for his services.
