Islanders sign Fedotenko / Kozlov stays put

the Islanders made a move to replace some of the goals they will lack in the absence of Jason Blake, signing Ruslan Fedotenko to a 1-year $2.9 million deal. Fedotenko had a great playoff run when the Lightning won the Cup in 2004, and then a career season in 2004-05 scoring 26 goals and 15 assists in 80 games. But he really slumped last season, scoring only 12 goals and 32 points in 80 games, and really didn't provide the secondary scoring that the Lightning needed.
The $2.9 million is a risk by New York, but maybe Fedotenko will thrive in a different environment.

Slava Kozlov is staying where his bread and butter is: Atlanta. The Thrashers have signed the Ruskie to a 3-year $11 million deal.

Nice little addition of Tom Kostopoulous by the Habs earlier today to a 2-year $1.8 million deal.
