The Canucks are also in the market to make a deal...And one of the latest has a package that would send Ohlund and players to NJ for Elias.God, wouldn't that be sweet. Financially, it doesn't quite add up, as I believe the Canucks would have to lose a lot more than Ohlund's salary ($3.5 million per season) in order to absorb Elias' earnings of $6 million per season.
Hey, Elias would be a welcomed addition though! Losing Ohlund wouldn't hurt my feelings all that much.
Anyway, just a rumor. Tambellini did make it clear yesterday that trading will be one of the options for the Canucks at this point. But are they aiming that high???

It just doesn't add up...I think this is a rumor started by people that think Nonis is a cheapskate.
ReplyDeleteThat don't think Nonis is a cheapskate!
ReplyDeleteIt's awfully hard to fathom, and Ohlund would have to waive his No-Trade Clause. He's been in Van City a long time now, and I can't see him being all that excited about packing up and moving across the continent. I always figured he'd end his career as a Canuck.
ReplyDeleteAlthough NJ does need a D-man, since Rafalski is gone. Not to mention, Sopel may not re-sign in Vancouver and that would make Ohlund less expendable.
Why are you even reading Hockeybuzz?
ReplyDeleteHey Jim. I read everything. Hockeybuzz does have it's insights, and has actually been corrrect on more than one occasion this offseason.
ReplyDeleteBut I don't put too much stock into it.
