Game 5: Ducks 2 Canucks 1 (OT)

1st Period

Pathetic. Luongo is keeping the Canucks in this one. The Ducks outshot Vancouver 17-6 in the 1st period, as the Nucks look flat and almost uninterested. 2 power plays for Vancouver and they showed a lack of intensity.
I didn't see a lot of speed, chemistry, or anything else good from Vancouver in Period 1. That is inexcusable in a game that you have to win.
Expect Vigneault to rip into these guys during the intermission and a better effort in the 2nd period.

2nd Period

Nevermind. The Ducks score seconds into the 2nd. Fuck. Sammi Pahlsson. Sleek must be beaming.
I can't handle this in a sober state. I'm getting hammered starting right now!!

3rd Period

This is really hard to stomach. We are being outshot 42-14 minutes into the 3rd. Are the Canucks already defeated in their minds in this game? It appears that way. I just can't believe it's only 1-0 when we are being outplayed and outshot that badly. Luongo is god, ladies and gents. And this god is being hung out to dry tonight. What a fucking tragedy.

Burrows bags a rebounder!! 1-1! That came from out of nowhere, didn't it?

OT

Did Luongo go for a 10-minute shit? Dany Sabourin started the OT, and panic set in even more than it had already. Sabourin played well and then Luongo came back in, giving Sabs a tap on the helmut for his good work.

Was Luongo asleep on that shot?? Didnt look like he was even paying attention to the puck.

That shot was weird, although as far as I see it I think Luongo will take the blame...even though without him they wouldn't have made it to OT or the playoffs in general.

Wow, that game was a painful as watching someone burn ants with a magnifying glass. You think maybe the ant will escape and live, but NO, some bully steps in and squishes them with their boot (or elbow).

I'm not going to complain though. It was an incredible, unexpected season, and a decent run through the playoffs.

AV proved his system built around Luongo works, and the team really gelled down the stretch. Now it's time for Nonis to go to work, upgrade a few positions and add depth.

Ugh, but what a way to finish the season.

don't get me wrong I'm totally thrilled with the season they had - they did good ! but The let down to end the series is always tough to handle.

anyone else think anaheims first goal was kind acontroversial>?????

Jenny - Umm... Nope. Not unless you think a player being pushed into the goalie by his teammate should be a penalty. If that were the case, the Canucks would have had a lot more power plays throughout the series.

Zan - We'll chat when the sting is gone.

Let's see....Moen crashes the net, and of course gets checked, so falls into Luongo, pushing him way back INSIDE the goal. Funny how these big 250 lb players fall over like schoolgirls.

2nd goal - let's see, if that is Cowan on Selanne, instead of Niedermeyer on Hansen, I say Cowan gets a match penalty for an elbow with attempt to injure. Funny how reputation has so much influence on calls.

Condolences, nucks fans. I would have put up with (begrudgingly) the honking and hollering outside my apartment a couple more times..

Now my favourite part of any season, the off-season retooling! I dunno why but I follow FA acquisitions and trades closer than the actual games..

Seems like you're going to be waiting for Stanley for another 30 years.

It's just not possible to get bored of the Canucks constant chokes in the playoffs.

Carry on...
