Christmas is July in Vancouver

Dave Nonis is going to have a few holes to fill on offence at center with the impending loss of Smolinski and Linden and on the wings with the potential departures of Bulis, Pyatt, and perhaps Josh Green. Browsing through the list of potential UFA's at the TSN site, here are my wishes on which forwards Nonis gets and doesn't get.

Over Priced & Out of the Question

Naslund has received a vote of confidence from Vigneault and is going to play in Vancouver for a final season, barring some miraculous trade. So we are stuck with his salary and the following players are out of the question (the strike-through's are the goofs I wouldn't want to see in a Canucks jersey anyway). This is also assuming that Nonis can't spend more than $2 million on any one player due to Cap restrictions.

Teemu Selanne, Keith Tkachuk, Slava Kozlov, Daniel Briere, Chris Drury, Todd Bertuzzi, Robert Lang, Petr Sykora, Radek Bonk , Ryan Smyth, Jason Blake (too bad, he's getting a huge raise elsewhere), Peter Forsberg, Paul Kariya, Scott Gomez, Brendan Shanahan, Mike Comrie, Gary Roberts, Mark Recchi, Bill Guerin, Anson fucking Carter, Michal Handzus, Ladislav Nagy, Kyle Calder, Petr Nedved, Mike Peca

Potential UFA pickups we could possibly afford that could add more offense

The highlighted players are my personal preferences.

John Sim, Brad Larsen, Pascal Dupuis, Peter Tenkrat, Brandon Bochenski, Adam Mair, Dainus Zubrus, Tony Amonte, Jeff Friesen, Byron Ritchie, Wayne Primeau, Scott Walker, Josef Vasicek, Denis Arkhipov, Mikael Holmqvist, Peter Bondra, Jeff Hamilton, Tyler Arnason, Brett McLean, Anti Laaksonen, Mark Rycroft, Eric Lindros, Stu Barnes, Patrik Stefan, Matthew Barnaby, Tom Kostopoulous, Todd White, Wes Walz, Scott Hartnell, Scott Nichol, Jerred Smithson, Eric Belanger, Alex Mogilny (could be cheap), Jason Wiemer, Jim Dowd, Erik Rasmussen, Brad Isbister, Chris Simon, Arron Asham, Richard Zednik, Viktor Kozlov, Randy Robitaille, Eric Boguniecki, Jed Ortmeyer, Dean McAmmond, Niko Dimitrakos, Todd Fedoruk, Denis Hamel, Nils Ekman, Ronald Petrovicky, Owen Nolan, Jeremy Roenick, Pascal Rheaume, Mark Smith, Scott Parker, Ville Niemenen, Radek Dvorak, Vladimir Orszagh, Trent Whitfield, Denis Pederson, Ruslan Fedotenko,Andreas Karlsson, Rob DiMaio, Eric Perrin, Eric Healey, Jeff O'Neill, Yanic Perreault, Nik Antropov, Travis Green, Bates Battaglia.

Nik Antropov is up for grabs, eh?

Surely the Leafs will find a way to re-sign him.

Probably. Perhaps at dollars like Ponikarovsky's 3-year $6.3 million extension.

I see Jim Dowd and Wes Walz are both available. I hope the Bruins pick them up, if for no other reason than for me to revive my old Minnesota Wild / Pink Floyd joke.

All in all they're just
A guy from Brick (NJ) and Wes Walz.

Gilmour, Mason, Wright, Waters, Barrett...

That would make one helluva PP unit, if you ask me :-)

Pink Floyd... is there anything they can't do?

I wasn't aware Mogilny could even stand up these days!

Pink Floyd can't shred! haha!

Actually, I need to do a bit of a check on Mogilny's status, because I am not sure how or what the hell he is doing.
