Sopel's Paradise

Like I was saying earlier, Sopel is ecstatic about donning a Nucks jersey again. If you want to hear his interview with Team 1040 guys Pratt and Taylor then check out Stick in Rink. Isabella has the file posted on her site.
He sounds like he is going to dance all the way to the damned airport!

Sopel: "It's been a while since I've been in the playoffs, and that's what we are going for... whatever I have to do, I'll do."

I just heard Smolinski's comments, and he said "I'm ecstatic about it... it's gonna be tough on my family, but to have a chance to play on a great team..." and then he said how excited he was to be playing for a contending team and get to the playoffs.

Man oh man, I'm so happy Nonis got these two guys. That's some great attitude there, it's the kind of attitude that is contagious.

And then you know that he got the right guys. I like how Pratt and Taylor were comparing Sopel's desire to play here to the acquisitions of attitudes of Carney and Weinrich last season when they were acquired. There was a major difference in attitude.

That's good to hear about Smolinski as well.

Sopel's not my favourite defenceman, but his attitude has always been endearing. After McCarthy and Bulis (yes, I'm still pissed), it feels really good to have somebody who really WANTS to be on the team.

I wasn't able to catch the Smolinski inerview but I've read some stuff posted so I'm happy to hear that he seems okay with the trade. An earlier article published in one of the Vancouver craprags had Smolinski sounding kind of emo about the prospect of getting traded (Chicago is close to Detroit and that's where his family lives). But still, all around, it's been an interesting trade deadline eve.

(On the other hand, I think that staring at my laptop all day has burned a hole into my unhappy retinas. Oops.)
