D-Day Coverage

10:57am
Hype hype hype! Where is Ryan Smyth going? Where is Jagr going?
They are not going anywhere!
Eklund is giving Bertuzzi to Anaheim an e4 rating, like it's almost done. I say Bert is NOT going to the Ducks. If he does, I'll put Hockeybuzz on my sidebar links forever! (uh-oh)

10:51am
Glen Sather, the cigar-smoking badass, has made it known that Jaromir Jagr is available, but only for an offer he can't refuse. So, any team that wants to poison their dressing room with a gutless puke, AND piss away the future of their franchise, please let Glen know!

10:12am
The Rangers have just dealt D Aaron Ward to the Bruins.
**UPDATE*** Ward in exchange for Paul Mara.

10:03am
From Spectors: The Coyotes have re-signed Kevyn Adams to a 1-year contract.

9:58 am
Saw this at Canucks Hockey Blog, who is live-blogging the event as well:
-Marc Chouinard has cleared waivers. He is THAT bad folks.
-Michael Leighton was claimed by the Habs. OOO! That should help in Huet's absence! NOT!
-Niko Kapanen went to the Phoenix Coyotes.
-The Blue Jackets scquired Brian Boucher.
-Denis Hamel was signed by the Philadelphia Flyers. A nice pick by Philly.
-The Thrashers signed Jason Krog.

9:51 am
-The Penguins have traded speedy Dominic Moore to the Wild for a 3rd round pick.
-George Laracque has waived his no-trade clause and has been traded to the Penguins for F Dan Carcillo and an 8th round pick.
Bring on the boring trades! There should be alot of those coming up.

9:44AM
No, I am not on the ball today at all with the trades. Yesterday, yes, today, nope!
Bill Guerin is a good acquisition by the Sharks. They need a shakeup to get out of their current mediocrity. Guerin is having a better year than last season, scoring 47 points in 61 games so far. Guerin brings even more grit to San Jose, and playoff experince as well: 48 points in 96 career playoff games, and a Stanley Cup with the Devils in 1995.
Is Guerin to replace Cheechoo on the Thornton line?

8:30AM
The Sabres have finally traded Marty Biron. The 29 year-old was shipped to Philadelphia for an undisclosed draft pick. Biron has been waiting for this moment for along time, as he could not handle being a backup goalie. I'm sure he's a serious upgrade from Esche and Niittymaki. I guess one of those 2 goalies could be shipped out today. Probably Esche, as many rumors have speculated.
The Sabres then picked up Ty Conklin from the Blue Jackets to replace the departed Biron. I don't know about Conklin's puck handling skills...

C'mon... go out on a limb, be different than all the rest of the deadline duplicators and make some predictions. Pick where Guerin will go... even if you hate him.

Copy and pasting Hockey Buzz is lamo. lol

I bet Bulis gets traded to the Rangers.

Oh, wait a minute, I think that was just a daydream.

I think Birn is worth a lot more than the Sabres got for him. If Miller happens to get injured, the Sabres are completely done.

And I hope the Sharks lose their next five games.

Pittsburgh won't regret getting Laraque or Roberts. I bet Crosby is leaping out of his spaceboots right now.

What the hell is going on in Edmonton? How could they not be making any deals?

Could it be they have nothing to offer?

Not sure about Edmonton. They are stuck somewhere between being buyers and sellers.
Fuck'em.
They'll probably get Jamie Heward!!! hahaha

I agree with temujin, Philly got a hell of a deal with Biron. I don't know what the Sabres were thinking, they probably could have done the same thing after the playoffs and got way more. OH WELL...

I guess their thinking is that they are going to ride Miller all the way in the playoffs, so if they can save some money by trading Biron while getting a draft pick, it is worth it.

Biron has been waiting for over a year to get dealt. I think it was time.
But not for just a 2nd rounder! Wow! How the hell did Sopel go for more than Biron did?
Hmm.

And Paul Mara went to NYR as part of the Ward deal.

Seems to me Mara is having an off-year. He started out playing with Chara but I haven't heard anything from him in ages.

But I think he'll be a good fit in Boston.
