Kasparaitis put on waivers

According to Sportsnet, the Rangers have put slumping defenceman on waivers.

The Russian player has struggled to regain his form after offseason surgeries to his shoulder and groin.

Kasparaitis can be claimed by another team over the next 24 hours. If not, he would likely be assigned to AHL Hartford, where he already did a 10-day conditioning assignment earlier in the season.

Is this the end for the 34-year-old? If his health issues clear, he could find himself on another team perhaps.
All I know is that somewhere, Mario Lemieux is laughing, and the players that are currently playing won't have to worry about the 'big hip check' anytime soon.
