Random NHL News for Thursday

  • Jeremy Roenick has 1 assist and is a -4 rating in his first 6 games. He is now playing on the Coyotes' 4th line and hasn't bitched about it.....yet. Give him time, and about 10 more losses. Then he'll start whining about how he should be given more icetime to help contribute offensively.
  • The Avalanche have a minor dilemna on their hands with who to start in goal against the Canadiens on Saturday night. What would you do if you were coach Quenneville? Play Theodore because you think it will jump start his season to prove himself in front of his former team and fans? Or do you go with Mr. Money In the Bank Peter 'the praying' Budaj? I know the Avs need to get on a role soon, but you'd have to think that at the $$$ they are paying Theodore, they need any reason to get him going and playing at the level he is expected to be playing at. What happens if Theo plays and stinks up Montreal?
  • Bryan Berard was expected to have surgery today on a herniated disc in his back. He will be out of action until late January.
  • Tuomo Ruutu is skating with the Hawks again, but there is no timetable for his return.
