Flame Futility

The Capitals got 2 goals from Richard Zednik and 2 assists from Alex the Great in a 4-2 win over the Flames tonight.
Calgary now is 3-6-1 and in 13th spot in the Western Conference, 1 point ahead of the lowly Coyotes, and 6 points out of a playoff spot.

"We're really trying to establish the fact that we have to get the identity as a hard working team," said Flames coach Jim Playfair. "We have spent a lot of time talking about our identity and we haven't done the work required to re-establish it."
Is that where the goals are going to come from? Hard work? The Flames have only scored 25 goals in their first 10 games. Not very much. Only the Flyers and Blue Jackets have scored less goals. As the Flames' stats show, there are alot of players that need to get going. Especially Alex Tanguay, who hasn't hit his stride in Calgary yet.
Miikka Kiprusoff has a 2.79 goals against average and a .909 save percentage, and has not been his stellar self. But he isn't getting any help either.
So when does Darryl Sutter push the panic button? Will he pull off a trade, or fire Playfair? With a longterm ankle injury to Stephane Yelle and shoulder injury to youngster Erik Nystrom, Sutter has done nothing to replace these guys, except the whispers of interest in Yanic Perrault.
Something needs to happen soon, before the Flames put themselves too far behind the 8-ball and cannot recover from it.
