MALKIN'S FIRST NHL GAME VS THE FLYERS PERIOD 1, 2. OH NO! MALKIN INJURED!

Lucky residents of Moncton, New Brunswick get to watch this one. Just before the opening ceremony, Malkin crosses himself. Is he Catholic? Probably Orthodox, says my Russian wife.
Malkin is playing on the Penguins 2nd line with Recchi and whoever else they put on there.
Hey ! Ken Hitckcock shaved off his moustache! Looks younger.
On the Pens' 1st man advantage, Malkin quarterbacks the very effectively. Sergei Gonchar blows a shot past Robert Esche. Assist from Micky Dumot(?) and MALKIN!
Flyers take themselves out of it early taking 3 penalties in a row.
At the 13 minute mark, Ryan Malone scores another powerplay goal. The Flyers haven't even showed up yet, and then Pens look fast. For the record, there is no Gagne or Forsberg or any star in the Flyer's lineup. But Mike Richards and Jeff Carter are.
With a few minutes left, Carter breaks in on his off wing, and fires a beauty wristshot over Jocelyn Thibeault's left shoulder.
Score at the end of Period 1: Penguins 2 Flyers 1
Malkin was used sparingly. But Therrien is rolling 4 lines.
Malkin can really rush the puck up ice starting from his own zone, and the Pens are set-playing that. He goes through and around alot of players on his way up ice.
Other notes: Dominic Moore looks FAST and hustles better than any Pen so far.
Colby Armstrong is the real deal methinks
Alright, Period 2 is starting now!

BLOODY HELL!!! MALKIN IS HURT! 1 minute into the 2nd period, he flipped right over top of John Leclair behind the Flyer's net and landed on his face and chest..OUCH. He was escorted off the ice. My guess is a back injury, because he folded over in a way that a player's back shouldn't bend. Dang, maybe my Malkin party is over....
