EYE OPENER FOR EX CANUCK GOALIE

Alex Auld did not practice on Saturday due to an eye problem.

Auld woke up with his eye completely swollen shut and the team is looking into the cause of his problem. It is suspected that he may have had an adverse reaction to something and he has been given antibiotics. "No pain at all, and I can still see fine out of it," he said. "I don't think it's anything to be too concerned about." He will not play in tonight's pre-season opener, as Ed Belfour will get the nod, so hopefully there is nothing to be concerned about for Auld going forward.

I like Alex's quote " I can see fine out of it"... what, like the inside of your eyelid. Belfour did get the nod for the Panther's preseason opener against the Flames and looked mediocre, giving up three relatively soft ones on his first 16 shots. My prediction of a long year in Florida with them missing the playoffs again is looking pretty good...so far.
