CANUCKS GET FIRST WIN

Though it took a shootout to finally decide the outcome, the Canucks prevailed with Roberto Luongo stopping Anaheim Duck shooter Bobby Ryan to get the win and end the drama.

The Canucks did have the better team on the ice and should have won easily, but Ilya Bryzgalov kept the Ducks in the game countless times.

The Canucks had Naslund playing with the Sedins, which worked well and Morrison lined up between Pyatt and Bulis. Both lines seemed to work and I'm expecting this might be what we get to open the season with.

There wasn't one fighting major assessed in this game, unlike the Canucks last game, which had WHL quality penalty stats. It may just be the first game of the entire NHL preseason that wasn't fight filled.

The Yahoo sports recap is linked here if you want to read it.

Allow me to be a party pooper and mention that the Ducks iced a shotty lineup and the Canucks had I believe 15 'regulars.' So the fact that it took a shootout to beat the Ducks really doesn't say much for the Nucks, does it?

It proves how win-starved Hodge and Jin and other nuck fans have been. Welcome to the W column.

BTW, Sedin-Sedin-Naslund were all -1 in that game, heh heh.

This pretty much sums up the whole game.

Win-starved in the pre-season? Yeah, you bet. But we won't be when the regular season begins.

And of course you know, the most overrated and uber-silly stat in the NHL is +/-

That was the old NHL. Nowadays I thought the most overrated stat was shootout wins.

Or maybe, preseason shootout wins.

Re: Yahoo! League draft tomorrow.

I am a game-time decision. I have a possible conflict and don't really know if I am available tomorrow night or not.

I would say that I am 50% likely to play, but in either case I'm not signing up before 5 pm tomorrow, and that's only if I'm going to be around for the draft.

Ah c'mon man! Priorities!!! HAHA!
You could preset your roster and then autodraft right?
