CANUCKS DUMP GOON

Actually, its Calgary Flames Marcus Nilson dumping Gordie Dwyer in preseason action, but the Canucks cut the career goon/enforcer today, along with six others today. Five players are heading to the Moose and Vladimir Kutny joins Dwyer in the welfare line.

So, I guess that means, no high penalty minute/low talent enforcer for the Canucks this year. Looking at the current roster, it seems as if Matt Cooke and his famous "turtle" move, might be all we bring to the table this year. Willie Mitchell is ok tough but would like to see him on the ice instead of the sin bin, personally. Who else do we have...Kevin Bieksa. He got punched out in Anaheim by Travis Moen and had trouble killing a stool behind the bench afterwards.

For the record: Gordie Dwyer had 42 fighting majors in his 105 NHL games, five goals and a total of 394 penalty minutes. In the preseason with the Canucks, he had 32 penalty minutes, no majors, two misconducts and not even a sniff of the puck.
