VISHNEVSKI IS ATLANTA - BOUND

Just reported on TSN. Some of the speculations came true this afternoon as the Thrashers have just traded for exiled Duck defenceman Vitaly Vishnevski. The Ducks get F Karl Stewart and a second round pick in the 2007 Entry Draft in return.
Stewart is a 23 year old who has only played 13 games at the NHL level, recording 1 point.
I suppose this is closure for Earl Sleek isn't it? Expect a eulogy at the Battle of California soon.

Well, yup. I've been mourning this thing for weeks, so I guess closure is for the best.

Karl Stewart, eh? Sounds kind of made up.

Here's hoping the 2nd round pick is good!

Ugh. OK, I posted something on it, but I'll save the mushy stuff for this weekend.

I'll do a farewell piece for all the departing Ducks then.

And you haven't even heard him being interviewed! He's hopeless!

But Vish was my second-favorite (behind the godman known as Sammy Pahlsson), he was a team-first kind of guy who really knew what protecting a blueline meant.

Grrr, I knew I should have gotten a PAHLSSON jersey (except it was a gift, what could I do?).

Oh, and "Flocking Off"? All yours.
