BAR RAISED FOR SAMSONOV

Signed by Montreal as a UFA recently, Sergei Samsonov will be counted on to put up numbers he hasn't been able to obtain since his '01-'02 season. Signing for $7.6 million for two years may have Gainey looking like the monkey if Samsonov can't stay healthy enough to contribute for a whole season.

What a great picture!

I smell a derogatory Hab injury post coming though!

Nah, it's a little loop bolted to his ass, so the doctor can carry the oft-injured pip squeak off the ice.

That signing could go either for Montreal. He wasn't their first choice. I would much have preferred Shanny or Arnott. Talk is he will be placed with Kovalev and Ribeiro, which I doubt works. They have too many similarities as players for it to come together other than on the PP. They will draw penalties though. They can all razzle dazzle but might be too slippery for each other.

Kovalev/Samsonov/Ribeiro....still though, what an awesome-looking combo! Regardless of injury possibilities, Gainey is playing his damn cards right, and the Habs look good!

Stanley Cup in three years! I tell you man, once some of the young talent mature and learn to battle through the playoffs, it'll be ours again and back where it belongs!

In three years, the Habs will be looking for another Goalie to replace Huet after he gets exiled, a top line which play more than four games in a row without getting injured, a Manager and possibly a Head coach to replace Vincent Damphousse (my guess for Carbonneau's replacement next year. lol
