Perhaps if we traveled to Kabul and played a Summit Series against the terrorists, it would be something our nation could rally around.

I like how Tretiak said he dreams of seeing his grandson playing for the Habs. That's pretty cool, if you ask me.Temujinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08432104447169346842noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31097487.post-45855130350706875222007-01-30T08:44:00.000-08:002007-01-30T08:44:00.000-08:00Yeah, Cherry has a way of boosting Canadian pride!...Yeah, Cherry has a way of boosting Canadian pride!
I'd be into a Canada-Russia Series. Save the other countries for the World Cup and Olympics. Then again, in '72, Russia was the 2nd best hockey country. That is debateable now. How about those Czechs and Swedes?
The Summit Series 2 would obviously be for rematch reasons for the most part.Sean Zandberghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16367951232268606248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31097487.post-63736126716738140822007-01-30T05:20:00.000-08:002007-01-30T05:20:00.000-08:00"..but fuck 'em"

But....fuck 'em, to put it harshly.
I like your concept though: Can-US, then the winner takes on Europe.
The rivalry wouldn't be there as much for Canada-Russia now. Russians have infiltrated the NHL now, and in alot of ways the us against them mentality is lost.Sean Zandberghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16367951232268606248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31097487.post-57206875146399396482007-01-29T23:39:00.000-08:002007-01-29T23:39:00.000-08:00It's the only type of series that would interest m...It's the only type of series that would interest me quite frankly. The World Cups and Olympics bore the Hell out of me. This would be teams that could gel and compete at the highest of levels.

Will it happen?

It's doubtfull! How many American team owners would agree to their players to play, knowing it has little benefit to the U.S. and the NHL in general.

It's unfortunate.

I could see a 2 of 3, Canada - US series winner playing a Euro champion in a best of 7. That might be the only way it would get sold.

Nice if it happens!Robert Lhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16631806704699552307noreply@blogger.com
