Canucks hope to turn Coyotes into road kill

If you find the Photoshop image offensive, then you have come to the wrong place!

Wellwood comment from today:

"I’ve had success before like this for a couple of months. I was doing the same things in Toronto and everybody was getting all excited there. I have to look at this like it’s only been eight games. For me, I have to prove so much more. I have to stretch this out for years and years before I see myself as a solid NHLer."
Yes Wellwood's consistency will remain in question until he proves himself. Let's hope he bags another one or two tonight...both on the PP, as the rest of the squad hasn't been able to do that yet.

News yesterday from the Vancouver Sun stated that Jannik Hansen is still day to day with his sore groin. Pavol "Who" Demitra will still be out 2 more weeks with his heart, I mean rib issues.
The Coyotes are not missing any significant players.

KNOW YOUR ENEMY

This will be game 2 of 2 for Phoenix's mini road trip. They beat the Flames 4-2 two nights ago. Inconsistent describes the Coyotes much like the Canucks. Their past 5 games:
4-2 win over Flames
3-2 loss to the Wild
4-1 win over the Penguins
4-1 loss to the Flames
2-1 win over the Capitals

I guess it's time for them to lose judging by the above trend.

Shane Doan leads the team in scoring with 12 points in 10 games.
Olli Jokinen is next with 11 points in 10 games.
The much-hyped Kyle Turris is 9th on the team with 1 goal and 4 points in 9 games.
More Coyotes player stats here.

I would assume Ilya Bryzgalov will get the call tonight. He has played 8 games, has a 4-4 record, a 2.89 GAA, and a .905 save %.
Luongo's stats keep getting better. In 12 games played, Luongo has a 7-5 record, a 2.73 GAA, a .906 save % and 3 shutouts. He looked superb last game.

Coyote hitmen over their past 3 games:

1. Shane Doan: 3 goals 4 assists
2. Olli Jokinen: 3 goals 1 assist
3. Peter Mueller: 4 assists
4. Steve Reinprecht: 1 goal 2 assists
5. Tikhonov Jr.: 2 assists

So there's the guys that need to be shut down. 3 of the 10 goals scored by Phoenix over the past 3 games were PP goals. 2 were shorthanded.

For the Canucks:

-Let's see if Luongo can keep up his improved play.
-How about a bra, or even a block of wood gets thrown on the ice if Wellwood scores.
-Michel Ouellet will get time with the Sedins tonight. Let's see how that works. Damn, the top line shuffling is never-ending. Just call Carter back from the Swiss League already!

I'm liking the Canucks' chances as they steadily improve. I say a 3-2 win.

I hate to see Wellwood talking like that.

You know, now that I'm older I realize that the number one thing young men do these days that holds them back is just plain not have confidence in themselves.

If he ends up not making it, he ends up not making it. But his attitude should be "Toronto fucked up when they traded me, I'm NHL caliber and it's about time someone woke up and I'm here to stay."

C'mon Wellwood! Stand up for yourself man. NO ONE ELSE WILL.

It's the hard part about being a man, but that's the fact, jack.

Wellwood keeps it real when he talks. Most other players would just offer up lip service. He seems cautious for sure.
At least he is beginning to look happier when he scores goals, and the team seems to be happy for him.

Blocks of wood would be funny. Hey we're liveblogging it over at Alanah's site if anyone wants to jump in.

If the Canucks win tonight, that pretty much guarantees a loss on Saturday, right?

Dammit, my record will move to 1-7. No!!!!! They must lose tonight so they can rebound on Saturday.

Perhaps we could throw food (maybe cake? who doesn't like cake?) on the ice every time Wellwood scores. Certainly would provide more incentive for him to score assuming he gets to eat it.

Too bad that's not gonna happen. It'd be a sight to see.

So Bieksa ignores his defensive responsibilities, drives up the ice, receives a pass from Burrows, and it end up in the back of the Coyotes net.

I never want to hear you criticize Bieksa's defensive lapses again. Fuck Defence! GOOOOOO OFFENCE!!!!

Hehehehe!
