Canucks place Matt Pettinger and Jason Krog on waivers
Matt Pettinger was acquired by the Canucks from the Capitals for Matt Cooke last season. He was getting squeezed down the depth chart anyway. I thought Krog might have stuck. Nope. Rumors have him heading to the KHL if no NHL team picks him up.
The current Canucks roster up front looks something like this:
Sedin-Sedin-Bernier
Raymond-Demitra-Pyatt
Burrows-Kesler-Hansen
Hordichuk-Wellwood-Johnson
But not even that is in stone yet. If it is, I almost like it. At this point of the game I don't know where Wellwood properly fits in. Is he going to get 2nd line duty? He isn't a 4th line player. Thoughts?
Several teams are finalizing their rosters and putting players on waivers. How about Boyd Devereaux and Staffan Kronwall out of Toronto, Peter Schaefer out of Boston, and Kyle McLaren out of San Jose.

I like Wellwood on the 4th line. He can be a PP/shootout specialist, and get 8-10 even strength minutes. At least Johnson can help cover his defensive deficiencies rather than forcing somebody like Raymond to.
I feel bad for Pettinger, I remember watching him with the Salsa :) And think, the Las Vegas/Hamilton expansion team can get Pettinger/Schaeffer/Mclaren/a bunch of guys from Detroit :)
After thinking about it for a while I agree with your Wellwood statement. How many points can he get us in the shootout? He'll be better to watch in the shootout than Naslund.
He's good on the PP too. So I guess that is what the Canucks are planning on doing with him (of course, like a friend of mine said: "Until someone gets injured.")
Wellwood is a 4th line player :-) And would you can the Peter Schaefer love? Good grief, the guy is an Epic Fail!
