Cup Celebration Party at the Honda Center

There are plenty of great pics of the Ducks' Cup Celebration Party over at the HF Boards. Below are two of them. Looked like a great time.
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger introduced the Ducks and gave some Arnie one-liners like telling the Canadian Prime Minister that "We'll be back", blah blah puke.
"Then, when it came to the last game, it was, 'Hasta la vista, baby!"' Schwarzenegger said.

Apparently some of the 15,000 fans were yelling "One more year!" to Teemu Selanne, who is undecided on his future in the NHL.
And Scott Niedermayer looked completely different without his grey beard.

For the rest of the story, visit the LA Times.

That's awesome! Good to see a healthy turn out. Sure, it's not the insane crowd ottawa would get, or the mass destruction/looting/riot Vancouver would endure, but it's a start.

Could be worse, could be like Carolina: http://www.theonion.com/content/node/49761
Joke article, but probably close enough to the truth ;)

Onion Sports is awesome! I like the piece about Selanne practicing kissing his own hand before doing it with the Cup.

Yeah their sports stories are usually hilarious. I liked a recent one about how America wishes it was Ken Griffey Jr who was about to beat Aaron's home run record instead of.. well you know..

I think I'm going to be sick...seeing Pronger with the Cup. But...rumor has it he is on his way out here (to Hong Kong) this weekend for the finals of the HK Hockey 5's Tournament. I'm going and I'll be sure to stay away from his elbows.

On the other hand...it was great to see Selanne hoist the Cup. Every year there is a guy that I get a little misty watching them hoist the cup...and he was it this year (last year was Glen Wesley...former Portland Winterhawk).

Agreed on Wesley! Hell, even Brind'amour. I like seeing anyone who has never won it in a 15 or more year career hoist it. Andreychuk!!!! That was sweet.
The saddest part is that Adam Oates never won it. Or even Steve Thomas for that mater.

My favorite was the 'hand-off' when Sakic took the cup and never lifted it...he just handed it right over to Ray Bourque.

Next year...Naslund can do the same to Trevor Linden. I'm just getting misty thinking about that!!

Oh boy....is that wishful thinking or what? Hey, a European captain still has not won the Cup yet!
But yeah...that would be a beautiful thing...
Sakic and Bourque was the best ever. The Wings giving the Cup to a wheelchaired Konstantinov was a close second. I think I actually cried there.
