Heard around the League

"It's important to stay calm," Ducks goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere said. "We've faced this kind of situation before in the season where the other team might have dominated the first period. We have a lot of experience in this dressing room. There's no need to panic."
The most experienced Ducks are Selanne, both Niedermayers, and Chris Pronger. Those 4 players have played a combined 436 playoff games (Scott Niedermayer-170 games, Chris Pronger-117 games, Rob Niedermayer-76 games, and Selanne-73 games.)
The most playoff-experienced Canucks are: Trevor Linden-122 games, Bryan Smolinski-109 games, Sami Salo-53 games, and Brendan Morrison-51 games, for a combined total of 335 games.

"It's a tough goal to give up right off the bat," Roberto Luongo said about his folly in the first period of Game 3. "I'll take the blame for that one."
Yeah. And please don't ever do that again in the post season!

"I think that as much as everyone has made them out to be the big bad mighty Ducks, I think that we?ve proven that five on five, with our best game and our best effort, we can compete against them," Alain Vigneault said after Game 3. "Now we need to get our specialty teams to do a better job for us."
Expect an overhaul on the powerplay units. Would it be so bad to give Bulis or Hansen a shot?

“We’d like a couple of guys to step up,” Senators coach Bryan Murray said wryly after Monday’s morning skate, when asked about the need for secondary scoring. “I’ll mention that to them before the game.”
Gee, I wonder if he's talking about:
Peter Schaefer: 7 games, 0 goals and 3 assists
Mike Fischer: 7 games, 0 goals and 2 assists
Oleg Saprykin: 4 games, 0 goals and 0 assists
to name a few...

"You know what? I think about his advice even more than I used to," Evgeni Nabokov said about late Sharks goalie coach Warren Strelow. "You used to have the guy by your shoulder all the time and telling you this and now he's not here. But you're trying to remember what he would say and what he would think and how he would react."
You would have to think that the Sharks staff are dedicating this playoff run to Strelow, and that is a great story.
