Canucks acquire a Pirate

From Sportsnet:

VANCOUVER -- Vancouver Canucks Senior Vice-President and General Manager Dave Nonis announced Wednesday that the Canucks have acquired right wing Colby Genoway from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for defenceman Joe Rullier.

Genoway, 23, joins the Canucks from the Portland Pirates of the AHL. This season, he has scored eight goals and 21 assists for a total of 29 points in 41 games played.

The 6'1", 201 pound right winger played in 77 games for Hartford of the AHL in 2005-06, recording 26 goals and 35 assists for a total of 78 points. He also registered 12 points (4-8-12) in 13 playoff games.

The Morden, Manitoba native originally signed with the Ducks as a free agent on July 11, 2006.

In an interview from the Portland Pirates website, some quirky facts about Colby were discovered:

Nickname and how did you get it: Soupy, or Cheese (Colby Cheese)
Pets: Black lab named Vegas
Married or Single? If married, how did you meet? Single
Any children: No
Favorite quote: Life is a garden, dig it!
Biggest fear: Scary movies
Ultimate vacation destination: Swan River, MB
Hidden Talent: I can fart on command
Favorite Type of music: Rock (Van Morrison)
Favorite Food: Sushi
Favorite Movie: Fletch
Favorite TV Show: House
Favorite Book: Horn of a Lamb
Favorite Sport other than hockey: Baseball
If you could spend a day with anyone in history, who would it be? Lewis and Clark
If you weren't playing hockey, but you could do anything els; what would it be and why? Go to school at the University of North Dakota. Greatest place on earth!

Genoway looks like he could fit in the Canucks roster right away, if need be. I like his point-a-game totals in the regular season and playoffs in Portland.

The departing Joe Rullier had 8 points in 24 games with the Moose this season. He seemed to be known for his brawling more than anything else.

Don't look at me for any insight; I don't know anything about Pirates until they decide to become Ducks.
