Trade Wars: The Ducks Empire Strikes First

In the first important trade of the regular season, the Ducks have traded Stanislav Chistov to the Bruins for a 2nd round pick in 2007 or 2008. The Ducks then shipped a 2nd round pick in 2007 to the Avalanche for forward George Parros. On top of that, the Ducks also sent tough guy Todd Fedoruk to the Flyers for a 4th round pick in 2007.
What these deals do for the Ducks is clear some room under the cap, $800,000 to be exact. The arriving Parros has a $450,000 pricetag, but they gave up Fedoruk's $450,000 and Chistov's $800,000.
The reasoning behind the Bruins and Flyers making this move is to inject some life into their lineups, as both teams are struggling bigtime this year. We'll see if it works.
George Parros is a tough guy. He has only played 57 games in the NHL since being drafted 222nd overall in 1999 by the Kings. He has 5 points and 138 PIM in those 57 games.
Todd Fedoruk returns to the team that he has spent most of his career with. Go figure, the Flyers re-acquire a goon. Then again, they have lost Denis Gauthier long term to shoulder surgery, so they need a strong presence right away.
Stan Chistov is the best player moved today. He hasn't been sticking with the Ducks this season and gets a fresh start in Boston. Chistov has 48 points in 136 NHL games, and will probably be given a decent shot in Boston.
