Leafs acquire Boyd Devereaux

Devereaux with the Cup in 2002

According to TSN, Devereaux has agreed to a 1-year, 2-way contract with the Leafs. The Leafs will put him on waivers and then send him to the Marlies. Devereaux didn't make the cut with the Red Wings this season, and had some form of agreement that he would be released if he wasn't in the Red Wings' lineup. I'm not sure how much he will play with the Leafs this season, but will see time if there is an injury.
He is a speedy and shifty checker. Devereaux has 131 points in 509 NHL games with Edmonton, Phoenix and Detroit, and had 6 points in the 21 games he played with the Wings in a checking role during their 2002 Cup run.
